Fresh from his world tour as guitarist for ex Creed singer Scott Stapp, guitar ace Andy Wood has been hard at work crafting his solo follow up to 2010's debut album, "A Disconcerting Amalgam". "Caught Between The Truth and a Lie" is now exclusively available in the UK from Stunted Records

Available in a 2 CD format, disc one "Truth" ( 11 tracks ) showcases Andys roots / formative years in acoustic, bluegrass and country music, and features his exceptional talents on the guitar and mandolin. Disc two "Lie" ( 13 tracks ) is a stunning example of where Andy is taking his electric guitar playing, with a series of finely crafted instrumentals which veer between rock, fusion and metal with ease, proving that Andy can rip it up with the best of them !
There truly is something here for everyone.

Andy Wood is rapidly becoming recognised as part of the forefront of a new young generation of guitar players who are blurring the lines between preconceived genres. He is regularly to be found touring his own music, touring with Scott Stapp, appearing at trade shows in the US such as NAMM, and teaching at guitar seminars across the US.

"this US guitarist is hewn from the rock that remained after Guthrie Govan was created"
Guitarist Magazine July 2010

"with this mind boggling display he'll be trying Vai's boots for size in no time"

THE HEADSHAKES - Playground of Happiness - Album Release Monday 16th Dec 2013

Stunted Records are pleased to announce the release of the debut album

“Playground of Happiness” by The Headshakes
Monday 16th Dec
available in Digital Download and Digipak CD formats.

The songs on the album are a kaleidoscope of imaginings which seem to have a flow of mutual intent, born out of avid reading and a vivid imagination on the part of singer, songwriter and lyricist Mick Walker.

“Poetry in song form seems to be a way of expression, more of a release, words build up inside and seem to be going nowhere, until it all makes some sort of sense and a song is born”.

Transcending the years with a mature confidence, “Playground of Happiness” has a fresh and contemporary sound with anthemic songs that will sit perfectly during a summer festival, or be equally at home in a small intimate venue, uplifting in places, but with a touch of melancholy in the lyrics…making for widespread appeal.

New day, new release ... Stunted are pleased to announce the release of the debut single
"A New Day" by The Headshakes
Available via all major download stores worldwide.

The song is the opening track from the forthcoming album "Playground of Happiness" scheduled for release in October 2013.

Originally formed under a different name in the 80's the band recorded for Beggars Banquet, with legendary producer John Leckie and received critical acclaim for their releases, alongside slots on cult TV music shows The Oxford Roadshow and The Tube. Wind forward 20 years and a one-off reunion sparked a clutch of songs that deserved a much broader canvass, resulting in the recording sessions at the Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire where "Playground of Happiness" was born.

"Poetry in song form seems to be a way of expression, more of a release, words build up inside and seem to be going nowhere, until it all makes some sort of sense and a song is born."

NIKO TSONEV - Banshees and Harpsichords

Stunted Records are proud to release a little gem of guitar mania worldwide on Monday 17th June...not for the faint hearted, Niko is an extremely inventive and experimental guitarist, a guitarist's guitarist and a gifted songwriter, who really stands apart from the pack, with a unique personal style, and a sassy edge.

His guitar work is a melting pot of progressive rock, djent, jazz fusion and classical impressionism, reminiscent of a dark, modern and edgy Trent Reznor-esque film soundtrack.

Tsonev's guitar and production approach on his 2013 solo album "Banshees and Harpsichords" depicts broken landscapes of desolate crystalline beauty while breaking new grounds in terms of sonics and pure guitar creativity, that could sit comfortably alongside Bowies henchmen Belew, Fripp, Gabrels and Torn.

We dare you to have a listen.

Thomas Blug - The Best Of

We are pleased to tell you that “The Best of” double CD by Thomas Blug is now available on the Stunted shop. Featuring a total of 25 tracks from his back catalogue, with an overall running time of 160 minutes the CD has already been gaining plenty of press attention with reviews in the December issues of Guitarist and Guitar and Bass magazines. There is also a three page feature of Thomas coming up in the January issue of Guitarist Magazine where Thomas gives up some of his secrets to the fluidity of his guitar solo's

PRASHANT ASWANI Heads up - we’re really pleased to have been joined by LA based rock / fusion guitarist PRASHANT ASWANI who has just released an incredible album of guitar artistry called Sonically Speaking.

“Sonically Speaking” shows Prashant Aswani to be a great player, writer and producer. Ten brilliant compositions and Prashants signature guitar playing make this third album his best yet. The new album features Rhonda Smith ( Jeff Beck, Prince ) on bass, and Joey Heredia ( Stevie Wonder, Tribal Tech and Steve Lukather ) on drums. His Indian roots shine through with the addition of Abhijit Bannerjee on tabla.
Prashant is also joined on the album by renowned guest soloists Brett Garsed and Rob Caggiano.

As a regular performer at the NAMM trade show in California, Prashant has already picked up endorsement deals with ESP ( who produce his signature guitars ), DiMarzio pickups, Dean Markley Strings, Maxon effect pedals and Spectraflex cables.

With both European and Asian tours being put together for 2011, people will soon be able to find out why Prashant is held in such high regard within the guitar fraternity.

Starting in January 2011, Prashant will be releasing a video every week to reveal details about each track on the new album. Currently working on an album with Gregg Bissonette and Lee Sklar, there will be 2 further solo albums in 2011 !!

www.myspace.com/prashantaswani // www.prashantaswani.com

We are extremely pleased to be the only UK source for Prashants new solo album “Sonically Speaking”, which features both breathtaking and fiery melodic playing over some tasty compositions. This album has been produced by Prashant and is chock full of great guitar tones, making it essential listening for all fans of modern electric guitar playing, and we look forward to helping Prashant reach out to a UK audience.

Joining us as an affiliated artist on the guitar side of things is the incredible Andy Wood from the USA.

To say we are excited about this would be a massive understatement because quite simply Andy is one of the most exciting and exhilarating guitarists we have heard for a long long time. With support from Suhr Guitars, being asked to do a few video tutorials for Guitar World magazines “betcha can’t play this” dvds, guitar classes alongside the UKs Guthrie Govan at US guitar camps, demonstrating at NAMM trade shows etc, Andys name is rapidly spreading as people become aware of him and are blown away by his simply stunning technique.

Andy Woods debut solo album “A Disconcerting Amalgam” is in stock now on our webshop and is a must for all fans of modern rock guitar playing…..be prepared to be amazed !

Stunted Records are proud and excited to announce that DOG ALMIGHTY have joined their roster

The amazing self titled album from DOG ALMIGHTY will be released in the UK on
Mon 23rd March 2009

DOG ALMIGHTY rose from the ashes of Norwegian band SPAN, who were previously signed to Universal Island, selling 55,000 records worldwide and pretty much touring the world non stop for 2 years before calling it a day in 2005.

In January 2006 Joff, Kim and Fred along with new singer Sindri formed their band, Dog Almighty. They experienced a creative explosion which turned into 13 kick-ass songs. When they wrote lyrics they sat down and discussed the topic they would write about for hours, before putting it into words. That way they can stand tall for every word and feeling about the topics that engage them. They then started building their studio where they've spent 100's of hours producing their album. And what an album it is - intelligent lyrics with songs that rock - throwing metal, punk and hardcore into the mix without losing sight of melody and dynamics.

Already released in Norway, every cover is hand made by the band. No bullshit. That means that if you buy the CD in the stores, your copy will have their fingerprints all over it, but there are only 1000 copies of this limited edition sleeve up for grabs so when it gets its UK release in March 2009 you will have to be quick !

"F**king hell this is a good record. Loaded with jagged riffs and snarling attitude and shot through with a ton of unforced melody, Desperado well and truly hit the spot.......this is an abrasive and accomplished record that demands attention from start to finish. Brilliant" - KKKK Kerrang 1/9/07 for the rest of the review.

We've been overwhelmed by the awesome Press reaction, check some of it out here :-

Kerrang issue 1174 1st Sept 2007 KKKK
RockSound issue 100 Sept 2007 ( half page feature review ) 7/10
Tuned issue 5 Sept 2007

"The album’s full of head nodding sing-a-long post punk songs, and I reckon the band would be a force to be reckoned with in a live environment. There’s almost boundless energy, and there are some meaty riffs to contend with".

‘Thugs’ is a good name for Desperado’s second record. It is a wantonly aggressive album. It doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process as it hurtles its way unstoppably to punk rock Valhalla. It is brazen and violent, it is loud and nihilistic. It does what it does and it does it well. Desperado take Refused as their template and then sprints off in its own brutal direction. They are no mere copyists though; they add some thick sludgy grooves and some danceable beats to keep things fresh."

"Highly acclaimed Norwegian hardcore types are back with a new album which is shaped in such a way as to alarm pretty much anyone with a rock radar."

"Listening to this is like watching a ballerina decimate a panzer division with tissues, real power, real beauty and real brutality...Thugs is a brilliant hard rock album"

"Desperado have a cracker of an album in Thugs. Whilst not being so light-hearted, it shows 11 songs which have so much passion and drive you’d be a fool to dismiss them. Each track has measured guitar breaks and clever melodies pitted against an extreme screamo vocal approach. This is violent, blood soaked hardcore for those disheartened with the world."

"high-energy hardcore punk, ‘Fehu’ is the first real signal that Desperado have matured as a band as it launches into guitar riff that wouldn’t be out of place on a modern Deftones record"

"This is the music of an experienced band who know exactly what they're doing, which is creating dramatic and excellent music."

"It’s loud, scream, shouty and very very hoarse. It’s a healthy slab of attitude, however, and cleared the cobwebs out of my head after a day of listening to corporate bullshit at work."

Desperado's new release "THUGS" will be on sale in UK Shops from 3rd Sept and reviews are starting to come in.

"with standout tracks proving even the darkest of hardcore can still be a dance anthem, this is a superbly engaging record" - Rocksound - read the full review in this months mag

Someone has been playing with their ouijaboards and summoned some really scary ghosts from the past.. The last two nights I have been rehearsing and rocking with the old KITE-tunes again, and it seems like I`ve found a collection of great guys to fill in the roles.
And goddam it sounds great!
And FEELS great to play them old killer tunes again!
As a matter of fact these songs haven`t been played at all since december 2004, but I`ve now found out that most of them sound just as cool today as they did back then, in Manchester on our last gig.. or better..
And with this new trio-lineup, I guess the snowball will start rrrrollin`..!

Tacoma played a cracking set to a packed and very appreciative house at Sheffield's Corporation nightclub in support of Hed(PE) on April 4th. To catch the next live outing for the band head on down to The Grapes in Sheffield on 19th April.

TEN SECONDS OF CHAOS have now had three gigs with new guitarist Rik in tow and a whole bunch of new songs. Positive feedback has been immense with lots of excited rumblings about big things to come for the band. If you have not seen them live yet then they will be playing the Cockpit, Leeds on April 23rd before once again disappearing underground for a couple of months to craft and add finishing touches to yet more genre defying rock songs that will be unleashed later in the year.

It's spring and time to get off your backsides and get out to see some live shows

Catch Tacoma at the Corporation nightclub in Sheffield supporting Hed(PE) this Tuesday 4th April

On Thursday 6th April Ten Seconds of Chaos will be pleasuring the Cardigan Arms in Leeds with another dose of their genre defying rock. You really dont want to miss this!

Guitarist Magazine got on the case this month with a news item about Stunted affiliated artist Thomas Blug whose CD's and new DVD "Guitar from the Heart" is available exclusively in the UK via our own online shop.
